Capri is a stunningly Beautiful place to be with multiple personalities. The main centers of the Island are the town of Capri and the town of Anacapri. The island is very well connected with short Hydrofoil trips from Naples, Sorrento and Positano. The Island is a waalkers paradise with plenty of trails to explore the island. It is very worth while to get away from the tourist centers and do some walking to lesser populated areas.
Things to See
Anacapri
Located high up in the island. You can reach this town via bus or taxi. Obviously the taxi is the more expensive rout costing approximately $30 from the town of Capri. Although removed from the popular town of Capri, this town can also get crowded during season. There are some lovely buildings in this area of the island. Y0u can get here via bus from Marina Grande or the town of Capri.
Capri
This is the tourist center of the Island with plenty of Hotel, shopping and Restaurant Choices. You can take a funicular railway or walk from the port. The funicular drops you off in the center of the town at Piazza Umberto I.
Faraglioni
Blue Grotto
Famous for a reason. It may sound touristy but I would not miss this if you are in Capri. I would recommend that you tie it in with a boat tour around Capri. Note that if the seas are rough then you will not be able to enter the grotto. As it is you have to lie down just to get into the grotto. The pictures really do not do it justice.
Restaurants
Da Giorgio
An old standby in Capri town off of the piazzetta. of course fish is a mainstay here and it is expertly prepared. Among the treats we enjoyed were whole shrimps with the head on, Linguine Vongole (Linguine with Whte Clam Sauce) and an excellent Zuppa di Pesce (Fish Soup containing shellfish and fish in a delicious tomato based sauce). You can also enjoy excellent wood fired pizza here. This place was recommended by someone we know from Capri.
La Fontelina
A great stop for lunch with excellent views of the Farglioni. Another place recommended by our friend from Capri. We enjoyed grilled vegetables, Mixed Grill of Fish and plain old spaghetti with a tomato sauce. The food is very good but more than that you come here for the atmosphere. It is a Beach Club as well. There are many steps to reach this place but if you take a provate boat tour as we did then you can have them drop you off at this location. Just let your guide know at the beginning of the trip.
Ristorante Aurora
Located in the thick of things in the town of Capri. This place is frequented by tourists, celebrities and locals alike. They offer seafood and Pizza here. The food is creative but they serve the standard fare as well including lobster. There are two types of lobster, Atlantic ant Spiny. Check to see which type they have. When we were there they were out of lobster and literally went to a fish monger to get more.
